Blades can be clamped at two levels: the upper level is for plane blades with a width of 36 to 78 mm, the lower one for chisels and plane blades with widths from 2 to 46 mm. The blade overhang for various bevel angle/blade combinations is shown on the side of the guide:
30 mm chisel overhang results in 30° bevel angle
40 mm chisel overhang results in 25° bevel angle
38 mm plane blade overhang results in 30° bevel angle
50 mm plane blade overhang results in 25° bevel angle
These numbers are no more than benchmark values. Make sure, when you want to retain an existing angle, that the bevel is in full contact with the whetstone. Beyond that this honing guide will produce any useful bevel angle you need for your chisels.
